@gcampax @SonofaGeorge @Popehat The Manhattan DA is messing with the guy who hired a ghost writer to create "The Art of the (Plea) Deal".
I'm expecting Trump to cop to some fines, no jail time, and barring him from doing business in NY state.
Trump will cop not because the case in NY is so strong, but because he will need it to go away so he can focus on the upcoming case in Georgia and the federal documents shenanigans.
@SonofaGeorge Not exactly. The right to trial-by-jury is a waivable right, and one may choose to waive it for a variety of reasons.
(... but I think our dear Popehat is mostly taking the piss out of the idea that any pundits have anything useful to say right now about the Trump affair, since nothing interesting or unusual has happened yet).
Not if the charges are dismissed first on legal grounds
@Popehat The experts will probably be the only ones saying that, though. The rest of the world made up their minds -one way or the other- a long, long time ago.
Also: he’s totally guilty 😜
Experts are not very confident but are correct.
@Popehat why does he get a regular jury, when the grand jury already voted, huh?
(Precautionary /s)
I spent the entirety of Herr Drumpf’s debacle cursing Jack Ruby. we sure could have used Lee Harvey Oswald.
I'm no expert, but I think he can be as guilty as hell, yet be acquitted by a jury.
(Note from peanut gallery: acquitted doesn't mean innocent.)
@Popehat I feel bad for the experts who get roped into filling time on air for journalists who don't actually have any interesting questions to ask, but feel obligated to focus on the Big Breaking Story for hours.
And if they do ask a good question, the right answer is almost always, "I'd need to look that up and you gave me no prep for this appearance."
@Popehat No, there's absolutely nothing wrong with people making their own judgements and saying he's guilty. It shouldn't, and won't, have any effect on the legal system, but it's fine for people to say he's guilty.
There was never this much hand wringing when the LAPD framed OJ Simpson. People felt perfectly free to discuss their opinions on his guilt.
