About that Australian Grand Prix then…

Bonkers!! Do like a race filled with drama, but can’t help feeling the FIA don’t help themselves with silly rules that reduce the actual race time we get…when red flags come out, and then when under safety car back to the line, why on earth are they counted as racing laps? We must have lost 5-6 laps in that race for that, and the end would have been a lot better if we didn’t….

@kevroberts great questions! I expect that probably has to to with the fuel on board. Even though a slow lap under the safety car doesn’t use as much as a race lap, an extra lap or two could use fuel they don’t have in reserve.

I have though that instead of allowing cars to unlap themselves (which takes several laps), they could let lapped cars simply fall to the back of the pack and credit them the lap. They would end up with more fuel and less tire wear, for a more exciting restart. #f1
