“Eliminating parking requirements can have this huge impact on the quality of life and sustainability of a community,” said Sara Bronin, an architecture professor at Cornell University. “It is among the most significant changes that a local government can make.”

America Has Too Much Parking. Really.

Cities get rid of spaces, freeing land for new development; ‘looking for a place to live, not to park’

The Wall Street Journal
@TheWarOnCars “The priority was people are looking for a place to live, not to park”

@TheWarOnCars Parking requirement is one of the most ridiculous rules a ruler ever ruled.
You force a business to use valuable real estate for the least profitable purpose, it makes it bad for the non-drivers to approach the business, and in the end ends up such low density of businesses, that drivers will waste their time and fuel getting anywhere.

Seems like car centered development is so short sighted, that it doesn't even benefit car owners.

Are Parking Lots Ruining Your City?

@TheWarOnCars If the WSJ thinks so, then it is way more than way too much, and has been for a very long time. Also, it's true. Too much parking. Historic buildings that supported a walkable community have been torn down just for parking requirements.
