In Germany, teaching the Holocaust is mandatory.
It includes visits to concentration camp, museums, etc. They don't shy away from their own ugly history. Yet the kids aren't damaged; they're strengthened, matured, humbled. The U.S. needs to do same with slavery.
Not that complicated.
A strong next generation is precisely what Republicans don't want to see in the young
They want murderously insane child soldiers like Kyle Rittenhouse, not inspirational & smart children like Amanda Gorman
They want a next generation as simply consumers, not citizens
They want underpaid serf labor hopelessly mired in apathy & despair
They want addicts, to violence, to rage
They want the next generation saddled with debt; student loans & mortgages
They want a Nazi do-over
I just realized why the ultra-right go absolutely nuts against young leaders like Congresswoman AOC and gun safety advocate David Hogg.
The overturn of Roe vs Wade was not just about removing the civil rights of women.
It's not just about the disenfranchisement of PoC, LGBTQ, immigrants, and women; and others being punished for voting Democrat.
It's a right wing attack on the young.
Young voters are the greatest risk to Republican billionaire donors & their power & control.
@Npars01 @unearth Once another 30% of the #Boomers die off, and assuming it's even possible to fix some of the #gerrymandering the #GOP will never get into power again; and they know it.
That's why they feel they need to get rid of #democratic #elections within the next decade.
