Well, don’t praise us Germans too early. On one hand, Germany wouldn’t have started with re-education without the Allies forcing us. On the other, there were always loud voices to stop this, still are.
Fascism is raising world-wide. In Germany, it generally doesn’t look as ugly as in some other countries, but e.g. you don’t want to visit Saxony as a PoC and you don’t want to be an activist in Bavaria or Hesse.

And yet — *no one else* has gotten that far.

No great imperial/former imperial power has dragged out and washed its dirty laundry in public of its own free will.

The US failed in the mid-late 1800s when we smothered Reconstruction (which was being successful!) in its cradle, and let the fascists role everything back.

So far, the sole success is Germany. Yes, it took the Allies *insisting* on it for 40 years — long enough for it to self-sustain.

Perfect? No.
Better. Absolutely.
