After the Supreme Court issued its Dobbs decision overruling Roe v Wade last year, each state was left to make and enforce its own abortion laws. Many red states had already put abortion β€œtrigger” laws in place that would leap into effect the moment Roe was overturned, while many blue states rushed to pass additional protections to guarantee the right to abortion access.

Then there was Wisconsin, where a law essentially banning all elective abortion procedures has Democrats in the state fired up and ready to fight back. They get a big chance to do so next Tuesday. http://thinkbigpicture.substack.com/p/reproductive-freedom-democracy-wisconsin-court

Wisconsin State Supreme Court Election Could Determine Abortion Access And Democratic Rights

On Tuesday, April 4, reproductive and democratic freedoms are on the ballot as Wisconsinites head to the polls to decide a crucial state Supreme Court election.

The Big Picture
@georgetakei republicans seem to want them to be be born so they can act as targets.

@georgetakei The best way to reduce* abortion is sex education, access to contraceptives, support of pregnant women, health care, and care for children whose mothers can't be there for them. Also general respect for women and real respect for families. Strangely the same people who want to ban abortion are not willing to provide any of these things. Because it's not about saving lifes, it's about controlling women.

*And if you really need/want an abortion, it should be safe and legal.

@georgetakei If #Dumbocrats wish to do something real, they should codify the right to choose, the right to an abortion at the federal level! Oh gods, they had a super majority in 2009, and they squandered everything!

@georgetakei

β€œThe GOP Needs Bad Maps to Win”

No argument here.

@georgetakei Hey George, love ya guy, but why aren't you putting alt-text on your images?
