[1/5] The #FolkloreThursday story for the week - "Don't mention the Illuminati" ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‘๏ธ๐Ÿค

This tale regularly haunts me, and my spam filters. There is a single post on my website, with comments disabled. Why is that? Find out in this thread ๐Ÿ‘‡

[2/5] Regular browsers of my website and social media will note that I often codename locations, this name is often derived from something inside the location. A few years ago I uploaded an abandoned church in Germany, calling the post "Illuminati Church"

#UrbanExploration #Urbexer #abandonedplaces

[3/5] The name comes from the large eye on the ceiling, which some has likened to the โ€œIlluminati Eyeโ€ symbol. The symbol is the Eye of Providence, probably originating in the 1400s or 1500s referencing the all-seeing eye of God, and his divine presence watching over humanity.

[4/5 ]The post is very popular, but not in the way I intended. I regularly received spam comments,from people wanting to join the Illuminati. Bizarrely, I had comments from those claiming to be the Illuminati making contact. Both clearly alternate takes on a similar scam ๐Ÿคฆ

[5/5] You can view full photo gallery and article on my website, if you would like to see more. Although, the comments are still disabled for the aforementioned reasons ๐Ÿ˜

Illuminati Church, Germany

The Illuminati Church is an old church in Germany. The Eye of Providence is emblazoned on the ceiling, a symbol of God's omnipresence.

@ObsidianUrbex Thank you for sharing. Very good pictures of places that many people would otherwise never had known about.
@nobodyknows
Thanks Lars! There really are some amazing places tucked away, often hiding in plain sight ๐Ÿ’š
