I don't care how upbeat you sound when you say "lunch and learn" it's not going to make anyone want to be there.
@Talia_christine lunch and learn? oh heck yeah give me two different thirds of wraps that are mostly lettuce and some room temperature pepsi while i look at a wordy powerpoint, i love the business
@sluttymayo don't forget the tiny bags of chips!
@Talia_christine If it isn't catered with Thai food, I am all booked up!
@Talia_christine also business side handlers need to understand that a lunch and learn where lunch is not provided is simpley a learn
@Talia_christine
I have never heard this and I just cringed when I read it.
@noondlyt that's the correct reaction. It's exactly what it sounds like.
@Talia_christine I would, however, give "Lunch and Forget" a chanceβ€”just to see what they meant by it.
@Talia_christine lol sounds like "mandatory fun" in the Navy....you're in port and would otherwise have to do training in the office but you get a day off, BUT it has to be spent bowling with the crew lol
@neutrino78x ugh that sounds awful πŸ˜‚
@Talia_christine Also, nothing personal, corporate drones, but lunch is MY TIME. I’ll learn whatever I want on my own (if I feel like it), and see you all at 1:00 PM.
@Talia_christine "Lunch and learn" sounds so much more whimsical and fun than 'unpaid training hour'
@Talia_christine haha! our lunch and learns are optional, and via virtual meetings on sometimes half-random topics - whatever someone in the office is interested in talking about for a bit. Also, paid time. I don't mind them at all :)

@Talia_christine can't relate to this. At my previous job I would do lunch and learns and would only invite our team so as not to bother the others, also figured no one would be interested outside of our team.

And we would have other teams show up and listen in, just word of mouth. It got to the point where I would schedule for our team but drop a link in slack to make sure others feel they are welcome.
