The more I think about it, the harder it becomes to justify using Twitter. If we aren’t gonna play the wizard game when the creator uses her resources to support transphobic causes, how can we justify using Twitter when its owner does the same? Yes, the reach on Twitter is broader for creators, but can’t that same logic be applied to streamers playing the game knowing there was a market for it when they depend on engagement to live too?
I can’t justify one over the other.
Yes, it’s easier to promote shit on Twitter. Even though I have a “real job” I’m still a performer and a portion of my monthly income is derived from streams, podcasts, merch, and folks following those things because of my performances live as well. We live in a world where to not be seen is to starve in that arena - and I’m trading off a significant amount of reach there to come elsewhere.
But I can’t justify being a part of that platform’s engagement anymore.
I don’t want to be a remora on the friend-eating shark that is Musk’s Twitter.
In no small part because remoras primarily live on shit.

For what it's worth, I've found that I get WAY more interaction on here than I ever did on twitter, but of course I've never had a following like you do.
