So when the robots rose up only 5 people could escape from the 13th tribe and travelled at sub-light speed. On the other hand when the same happened in the #Cyrannus system more than 50000 souls were able to escape along with #Galactica and its rag-tag-motely armada. Yeah the 12 tribes paid a very heavy price though, more than 50 billion souls wiped out and scores more left behind. No one knows what happened to the left behinds.

I've seen the series three times (some episodes more often). I've read just about everything there is to read about #BSG, and I've listened to every podcast about it. But thanks anyway for explaining the plot to me.😉

@Guy_VO

It is not the main plot. It is one of the many sub-plots that are constantly going on in the reimagined #BSG series.

It would be great to hear your take on this though.

@breakpoint
Well, it was not established in the series that the humans on Kobol were already a spacefaring civilization.
(Ep. 2.6 - Home - part I):
The people of Kobol had a choice: "to board the great ship or to go to the tomb of Athena."
"The great ship" was "a galleon that departed from where we are standing, and to take the founders of the 13 colonies to their destiny"
It is implied that the Lords of Kobol organised and executed the exodus. The people were "taken" to the colonies. (1/2)
@breakpoint
(...) Perhaps the humans on Kobol had just enough technology to create Cylons (with some help from the Lords of Kobol?), but not enough to be spacefaring. Possibly the humans were stripped of whatever modern technology they had when they settled on their new planets. (“all of this has happened before, and all of this will happen again”)
This could explain why it took a long time to develop advanced technology and become spacefaring again. #BSG (2/2)
@breakpoint
But you are quite right that the different order in which the colonies developed FTL vs advanced AI plays an important role in the story.

@Guy_VO

The 13th tribe choose a different path. They settled on the original Earth. The other 12 tribes went to the #Cyrannus system. After their long journey maybe their tech was not in a good shape and had to be abandoned. Due to degradation, stresses, wear and tear that is too be expected, especially on generational journeys. That is one of the reason given against Generational ships. How will the ships regenerate from metal fatigue, use etc. #Galactica could not do it.

@Guy_VO

And there is a chance that this might play out on Earth too. If we discover true #AI or #SentientAI then our path as species will be different. If we invent #FTL first then the path of our species will be different. It would be best that #FTL is invented and commercialized first. This way if the worst were to happen in terms of #SentientAI we would have a fighting chance.

So coming back to #ChatGTP response I would be a bit wary. Yes it is not Self Aware, not yet
