I’m incredibly bummed out about @TexasObserver shutting down.

They were incredible innovators with the Fediverse, and blazed a path forward for journalism here. They were among the first publications to host their own Mastodon server.

Sadly, their arrival here wasn’t enough to sustain them.

OAN, RT, Fox News, and NewsMax are part of a patronage system by right wing billionaires.

Why isn't there an equivalent pro-democracy system of patronage for liberal media outlets?

It's not a fair fight, I know that. The Money is with the Far Right.

I disagree. There are liberal billionaires funding the survival of democracy.

Eychaner, Steyer, Hoffman, Price, Bloomberg, Soros, Shirley,

They fund people like Guy Cecil.
