Illinois’ Bold Move: 60,000 HEPA Air Purifiers To Be Distributed In Schools To Battle Respiratory Viruses.

Governor JB Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) announced today that the state is launching a $29.6 million program to distribute more than 60,000 HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) purifiers to Illinois schools to help reduce the transmission of respiratory viruses, including COVID-19.

I think they help, they alone do not prevent infections reliably though, rather they constitute ONE piece of the swiss cheese model if you will. They also need to be implemented properly for infection prevention specifically, not just to improve the quality of air in general (which is still a good thing of course)
