@gekido Unity on the engine side has had (for like 7 years by now) several huge problems that it does not want to admit. Largest one is that there's no vision where it wants to go. It does not have "a roadmap", it has a todo list.

(TBH, DOTS is (was?) *a* vision. But a wrong one *for Unity*, IMHO)

@gekido and then couple that with internal processes that feel like they are designed to squander any ideas/creativity/innovation and slow everything down, and you get this result. :(((

@gekido @sheredom @aras I was so motivated & had so much energy when I started .. If I had been given the chance I would've build amazing level design tools
Instead I was constantly put into teams w/ things i had no experience with, don't get me wrong ... I learned a lot of new things, but it felt like my knowledge & experience was just wasted

@logicalerror @sheredom @aras @gekido as an outsider looking in, I don’t see how unity can compete with unreal (and Fortnite, since they feed each other) in the AA and AAA space.

If it was my decision I’d target indie and mobile, and every “system” on the roadmap would fit into that focus.

Definitely no DOTs, i like data oriented programming but most indie and mobile devs won’t use it, or more accurately, should only use it in smaller areas of their code base which would benefit from it.
