To ensure cars didn’t take back control of Paris streets as the pandemic was “ending,” (like they have in so many cities), #Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo made sure that 60k parking spaces and many streets were permanently transformed to seating for restaurants, people places and bike-lanes.
@miiamustang @BrentToderian yes it was a covid measure, to help the businesses survive and get back on track, that turned out to be realy popular.
( and it realy is nice)...
First for free, now you have to rent the space to the city. So it's a nice income for the city, and it gives restos more seating / that is always full " you can drink AND smoke" ( it's Paris after all - people prefere it to inside ;) .
( from friends with resto T/O is 2x outside)
