nailed it from my perspective -> and right now, the systems are largely controlled by information (note: there's not just one system)
folks vote for who they think will make the best decisions for their own personal interests
many end up voting for grifters who use those votes to exploit the people who voted for them, I have limited points of observation but this seems to land strongly for the UK, Canada, and America
