I’ve been streaming our kid’s games for my parents. Sadly, the streaming service shut down.

So, I’m switching to YouTube, but I need to get 50 subscribers before I can live stream on mobile.

I can’t believe I’m going to be asking people to “subscribe” like some YouTuber.

What are the implications of someone subscribing? Will it be annoying to someone if they’re not another parent? How much of an imposition is it?

Oh, and if you want to help me reach 50, subscribe at https://www.youtube.com/@jasonlgrigsby

@grigs If youtube doesn't work out(hope it does🤞), another option might be GameChanger. I don't know about its usefulness for lacrosse, or video quality (they say 720), or if you've already looked into it. We've used it for my daughter's softball games…and they say they support lacrosse. *and it's not free, so if cost is an issue, sorry.

Good luck either way.

@Wubbels Game changer might work. I’ll take a look. Thank you.

@Wubbels It is so promising, but I think it won't work for us. It appears to be designed for coaches to set up so it expects you to add rosters, practices, games, etc. into the app.

That wouldn't be a big deal, but it appears to require you to create an account in order to view the videos even if you say "anyone" can view the video.

Finally, the score keeping appears to require a separate app which is a bummer. MyCuJoo's broadcast app allowed us to do it on same phone as streaming.

@grigs Bummer. Sorry to hear that.

FWIW, before our team was well organized, I just created a team and didn't worry about the rosters, practices, etc, which allowed me to share stats/video with little to no problems.

@Wubbels That's what I was trying to do. I honestly thought I was succeeding until I shared a link and it asked me to log in.

It said it would send a login link, but never did.

The need for an account to view the stream is annoying. One of the nice things about YouTube is that it is an app on most Smart TVs. So we can tell someone, open YouTube and search for jasonlgrigsby or [insert team name] and you'll find the stream.

@Wubbels That said, I really wish Game Changer worked because YouTube doesn't allow me to select specific camera zoom levels. It is all pinch and zoom which makes it hard to make sure I'm on a good zoom level and not getting a lot of digital zoom artifacts. And YouTube doesn't have any scoreboard or replay options.

So close. Maybe they'll fix some of this stuff in a few months. I'll keep an eye on it.

@grigs Good luck sir!
