Why are we, or some of us, attracted to abstract art? This is the type of art that breaks almost all the art rules. So what’s the attraction? I believe that both, the artist and the viewer, can find their ultimate freedom of self-expression. And, both, can find their own ways to recharge their positive energy. My paintings may appear busy and cluttered (resembling daily lives), but there’s always a light at the end of the tunnel. Your feedback is much appreciated.

Why Are We Attracted To Abstract Art - ezeeart

The answer to the question why are we attracted to abstract art is simple. It is a very powerful visual language of expression.

I was fascinated by so-called abstract art, even in childhood. The opening of the Hirshhorn Museum in Washington when I was nine was a revelation for me. However, apparently my own art teachers in school never understood the abstract art that I made
@dpierce In my opinion, art is an expression. You feel it much more than understand it. Understanding abstract art is probably the biggest hurdle for many. Non-representational art doesn’t attempt to represent familiar objects. But represents an expression that attempts to communicate with our feelings. Do you still make abstract art? Maybe you can share some of your art. Thank you for your feedback. It’s much appreciated.

Do you know the 1938 book of R.G. Collingwood, *The Principles of Art*? Influenced by that, I would suggest that expressing them is precisely how we come to understand our feelings. But then "understand" doesn't mean "be able to put into words"; words are just one medium.

In any case, here's a watercolor I made about 40 years ago

@dpierce Very true. Understanding something is completely different from clearly explaining it. Thank you for sharing a beautiful watercolour painting. Vibrant colours are full of energy.
