Chicago in Chicago
Nice or not nice Chicago logos, continued.
Four good moments from today’s walk.
I have never seen these scripty additions to the otherwise classic style.
A few more nice shots, I think.
Cold today.
Loving all the lower levels and the back alleys.

New fav aesthetic: Old neons in the daytime
The typography on the vintage Quincy loop elevated station, restored to resemble its former 19th-century glory.
Contrast with the more modern equivalent and (I think) still the house style of Chicago’s Transit Authority.
Alright, so this was a lot more fun than I expected. (Even though the weather is bad.)
Most beautiful steel bridge
I think that stack must have been shortened; the name of the street is Belmont.

A few photos for today that feel like photos from 50 years ago.
Forgot what it’s like to live somewhere where you can watch seasons fight with each other.
I have waited longer for this stupid shot than I am willing to admit.
@mwichary I generally enjoy all your photos, but the first one in this series (the lamps [right side] over the train and track [left side]) is especially good.
@mwichary Love these shots. Makes me want to visit again 😊
@mwichary A good photographer doesn't focus on pixels, but on patience
@mwichary I know this wasn't the main point of the photo, but I found this message quite inspiring
@jonasdowney @mwichary in preview, the only word that shows is “MORE” and that’s a very different message
@mwichary @ceoln Springtime in the Rockies? We had snow/rain on Friday and more is expected this week.
@mwichary
But it is a bi5 like cat friends fighting. Without claws.
@mwichary nice example of the classical variant of U! I’m surprised it’s like that in signage, because I thought U began widespread use in the 1600s
@mwichary You should go down to the Central Manufacturing District (https://chicagology.com/centralmanufacturing/). I'd love to see your shots from there. If you do, be sure to head west on Ashland from Pershing down to the clock tower at Damen. I got this prized drone shot from there. (The other is some Terra Cotta at the top of the Shoreland in Hyde Park).
@madopal Thanks! I remember reading about it long ago. Is it safe to wonder there on foot?
@mwichary Yeah, it's still active, definitely not some abandoned site. It's basically an old school office park. But it's a heckova hike. Be sure to check out the Bridgeport Art Center on 35th if you get over there.
@madopal Checked it out a bit today. Thanks!

@mwichary I want to make a 3D printable model of the Fields sign, I'm reminded every time I pass it.

It should also be in the font pack with Starsiak

@mwichary Nice hizzoner you found there!

@mwichary My first apartment in #Chicago!

Presidential Towers (the four identical towers pictured).

@mwichary big fan of "elmo laundry" tho

beautiful pictures as usual🤩

@mwichary The second picture of the alley way and shadows... lovely. Especially that doorway/overhang which causes the break in the shadow (lower left)
