@DanMitu Yeah was starting to develop it I think (would get wrist pain after a few hours) and split keyboards really help. Not something I want to develop any further 😛
M.S. Bellows, Jr.@christianselig @DanMitu Hmmm. I really like the idea, but I don't think I'd enjoy the pieces sliding around. How would you compare the pros/cons of this design vs a split-but-fixed version?
@msbellows @DanMitu The split but fixed boards (like the Alice for instance) are nice but the split isnt nearly dramatic enough to make a big difference imo. And if you add rubber feet to the bottom they dont really drift or anything. But if it does really bother you, you could tape a ruler to the bottom or something haha

@elijah No not at all haha, they just look pretty. I type kana in the phonetic romaji conversion keyboard way anyway

I find backspacing a different number of characters than I typed brain bending (kanji makes this worse), hoping to switch away from Romaji eventually

How do you feel typing on it? It took me a week of typing at 30wpm before I got comfortable.
(Then I forgot how to type on a normal keyboard and had to readjust to that as well)
@TonyZhang Yeah haha still very slow as well, the ortholinear layout is fun but hard

@ioslife No but I like having the nibs on the F and J keys to easily find the home row so I keep the keys laid out as QWERTY even if the keyboard isnt

So now that I have the keyboard and am starting to learn, what’s your thoughts on Colemak vs Colemak-Dh?
@ioslife Haha ideally you shouldn’t be looking down to type anyway so it shouldn’t matter. Coleman DH looks cool but losing the easy command CV by each other and the nonstandard layout (normal Colemak is even supported on iPads) means I’d probably still go with normal Colemak

@christianselig also how in the world did you get used to tab on the right hand? I’ve become really interested in improving code quality by improving the editing experience and I had not considered a split keyboard up until now
@ethanrdoesmc Tab’s in the normal spot that’s just one of the few keys from the set I had that would fit there. It’s actually the space bar. But splits are awesome you should do it, more so for RSI prevention than anything

@forceunwrap Nah I’m not sure I’ll stick with this keyboard long term, might go with a Corne, so didn’t want to spend big bucks on a case yet
