[Long thread]
1/ This is HUGE: The U S. Copyright Office is taking seriously the impact of AI on creative content—Literary Works, Visual Arts, Audiovisual Works, and Music and Sound Recordings. In doing so, they've announced a series of public commentary opportunities.
2/ While individuals are welcome to offer input, I believe all of us who are in guilds, associations, unions, and other large professional organizations stand a better chance of actually being heard. As a member of the Presentation Guild, I've encouraged our board to stand up as one of those authoritative voices, and we will be submiting a request for our active participation in their upcoming "listening sessions" as applicable (all are via Zoom).* .
3/ I encourage you to please reach out to your organizations to join forces. This isn't simply about copyright, it's about ethics and the livelihoods of all creators. It is about our future..

Please feel free to share. I'm interested in what other groups are planning in response.

Also interested in similar actions by governments and organizations outside the US. This isn't only impacting my fellow Americans and I, nor are we luddites in this effort. This is a call for us all to band together to protect ownership of our creations and steer AI in a mindful and healthy direction.
