I share this because I want to promote a different way of making electronic music:

(1) Build a performance system/instrument.
(2) Practice with it and record everything.
(3) Listen critically and improve system.
(4) Goto 2.
(5) Release the best.

It's a very fun and productive way to work!

@williamfields How do you go about making THE performance system in a DAW without having an explosion in CPU usage and a huge lack of overview? If you are using a DAW for this part of it that is.

@madskjeldgaard Yes, REAPER is part of my setup. Not sure how to answer that, except that I fetishize CPU efficiency and lightweight plugins. But, CPU is not so much of an issue these days anyway.

I think it is a common mistake to design something in your head and try to go from 0 to 100 in one big jump. Best to start small and simple and then iterate rapidly from there.
