@donkey Great to hear, I had chatted with @sarah4ilam who is here on Mastodon about this idea. Some of us refuse to use fbook or twatter. The German’s and EU have Mastodon servers as a working example.

@BobLefridge @jeremy_pm @sarah4ilam That sounds fascinating - I'm not sure we'd get the traction to have that many instances/moderators but I reckon we have a good shot at getting a single instance with each department or ministry with their own account on it - along with all the local government agencies. Even party accounts etc would be perfect there.

Quite appropriately, the German Office for Data Protection & Freedom of Information hosts the Mastodon server for all government departments.
In December last year they asked all Ministries not on Mastodon to join as soon as possible. This effectively marked DE's move away from Twitter.
