I'm not a big StarWars guy but I don't hate it either. I finished the second episode of Andor yesterday and meh, does this get a lot better or am I just wasting my time?
Alright, y'all (and the sunk cost fallacy) have convinced me to least power through the 3rd episode.
The 3rd episode was better than the first two. I still haven't decided if I'll keep up with it, but glad I finished that one.
@paul I'm not a Star Wars guy but I loved Andor.
@paul just now remembering that I spent the first few episodes going "yep. This sure is a star war." It felt very much like they were saying and doing things for fans with deep knowledge I didn't have. But I ended up really liking it, so much I forgot my initial reaction.

@bensaufley @paul I liked it a lot, but I'm a SciFi Junkie... if it has a scene with an alien or a black sky with stars I'm generally in for the ride. 😝

The only thing I felt was required knowledge was that there was a galactic Empire and there were Rebels... if they had added an explainer at the start I think even non-Star Wars fans could have gotten onboard.

In general: I thought it was a good look at the human condition and the acting was superb across the board. It was a show I found myself watching WITHOUT another device in my hand, it had my full attention.

I also feel like they are still creating the world for another season that will be more kick-ass and have more of the action some seem to be looking for from Andor. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@Tyroga fwiw I'm not looking for action and in fact action tends to bore me these days. I'd like more of season 1.

I love sci-fi but I *prefer* the "speculative fiction" kind over the "fantasy in space" kind. I'm immersed well enough in Star Wars that I know the main stuff. The first few episodes didn't feel completely opaque to me, they just felt like there were winks and nods that I wasn't getting. I admit I've also blanked out most of the Imperial Parliament stuff from the prequels.

@Tyroga the reason I ended up loving Andor was that it applied some real world themes, some really urgent ones, to this universe. It was much less "the chosen one will discover magic powers and rise to overthrow the evil empire" and a lot more "anyone can light the match that starts a rebellion" with a bit of "the bureaucracy of fascism"

@bensaufley Agree with you about not wanting the big bangs of action and the "power of the many" story rather than the messiah-like saviour.

Looking forward to a season 2.
