Just got hit by another “subscribe” pitch after visiting a substack and scrolling down a bit. I know it and you know it: Everyone hates this shit.
Rather than this crude bludgeon, put the subscribe link at the _end_ of your article because guess what? Someone who reads _to the end_ might actually want to subscribe!
(Sorry to name drop but I have no followers… was listening to @gruber and @jkottke talk about this and was inspired to share)
