Pope Francis discusses revising priestly celibacy in new interview

Married priests are common in the Eastern Catholic Church, the pope noted, while the discipline of priestly celibacy is a “temporary prescription” in the Western Church.

@fonecokid Egads and NY's Andrew Cuomo wants felons to be able to vote.

Ask the Pope if they have a new Bible since they admit the old one is wrong?

@Intrinsically_Safe In my Country any convict can vote, There are no exceptions to the law that will stop anybody to vote.

@fonecokid

I see, where is that if I may ask?

In USA it tends to be more murky.

Felons can be barred at the State level and it then matters where the person resides and votes.

I tend to think that the last election for POTUS is nullified/invalid.

It was done wrong, mail in voting does not work.

@Intrinsically_Safe @fonecokid mail in voting works fine in multiple other countries. Plenty of folks have done it here for decades.

We have a completely independent electoral commission, something the powerful in the US would laugh at. It makes a huge difference.

@JadziaBenntley @fonecokid

The law in USA does not allow it.

And you can not ensure one man one vote.

I can collect ballots from my Church parishioners and have 1 person fill them all out.

For instance.

@Intrinsically_Safe @fonecokid sure, but that's not a problem with mail in voting, it's a problem with the US electoral system

@JadziaBenntley @fonecokid

Any mail in vote plan will fail as such. There are other exploits too.

@Intrinsically_Safe @fonecokid as I said, multiple countries have mail in voting without issue. They also manage to avoid gerrymandered districts and the majority of voter suppression. An independent electoral commission makes a big difference.

But I'm an anarchist, so watching folks destroy the system is kinda my vide, it's just fucked up along the way.

Anyway, that's me for the night. Take care.
