After a bit of searching I’m trying out using #Obsidian to keep track of notes and tasks.
So far I love being able to write notes and easily link between them and adding tasks through the “Task” plug-in.
It’s quite a relief to get all the stuff crowding my head stored somewhere I can easily access and update it.
Not quite as smooth as I’d prefer to add simple tasks, but overall worth it since I
can simply add them wherever they are relevant to the textz
@MikeWallaceDev I generally looked for task/issue tracking and the gold standard, to me, was #Favro back in 2016/17. But they went downhill with design changes.
I’ve done emacs org-mode, but never got into it and doesn’t do mobile.
#Remarkable pad is nice, but can’t track progress. And my handwriting too poor for recognition.
Last was iOS tasks and reminders, but they are not on my machines and lacking.
With #Obsidian i enjoy the notes and tasks, and now with canvas it’s even better.
@MikeWallaceDev What favro had back in the day was a way for each card to have children, as well as notes and check lists, with a kanban board. Then they “cleaned” things up, and changed focus to middle management tracking and it lost most of its value to me. And then my search started.
And I’ve been through a lot of apps and services, some self hosted, some hosted and none felt good. Most I can’t remember as I bounced of quickly..

@Erik_W_B I hear you man. Finding "a" to-do app is easy, finding "the right" to-do app is a different thing!
I don't know if you have looked at Notion, but you might like it. You can basically build any type of to-do app that you want.
You might want to look at AppFlowy which is an open source alternative to notion.
From what I understand, Notion is the big daddy, commercial app (with a free tier) and Obsidian and AppFlowy are the open source alternatives.
