Apparently this trend was noticed in the 80’s

@tosbourn this is particularly damaging given the ever-widening gulf in performance between those with the latest high-end devices on fast connections and those on under-powered devices with unreliable, high-latency, low-bandwidth connections.

The software is usually built by the former and if software expands to consume the available resources of devices with a wealth of resources, those without don't stand a chance.
