That a queer character in media should be a character who "happens to be queer," not a "queer character"

Because that is the Right Way to do it

And sure, if it goes full squeecore that can be exhausting

But all I can hear is someone telling me that if they can tell that I'm a faggot, that's the wrong way of being gay
