So predictable:

Former VP Pious McKissAss #Pence has filed a motion asking a judge to block a federal #GrandJury #subpoena for his testimony related to #Jan6 on the grounds that he is protected by the Constitution’s Speech or Debate Clause, according to a source familiar with the filing. #legal

@GottaLaff I Don't have to go cause I dont wanna
@decdogg He’ll show them! Neener nanner.
@GottaLaff IANAL, but it seems that the first part of the clause (privileged from arrest) would only apply to current members, and the second part "for any Speech or Debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other Place", could be interpreted narrowly and not block questions about his calls for help, his interactions with people who aren't members of Congress, etc. Didn't the Abscam defendants try similar claims, or am I remembering that wrong?

@not2b @GottaLaff when you want to avoid something forever or at least for a while it doesn’t have to prevail, it just has to create a structure that lets you delay. Particularly when a turnover in the Senate would make the problem go away.

Certainly does seem irrelevant to the s&d clause on its face though. Unfortunately that doesn’t seem like it makes any difference in how long they can drag out a process.

@not2b I don’t remember, but it won’t apply to some things, absolutely right.
@GottaLaff I’m SO sick of performative truculence from those seeking adoration from the Republican cult.
@heidilifeldman I’m so sick of their abuse of the justice system, such as it is.
@GottaLaff , conspiring to commit a crime (Insurrection) is not covered by Presidential Executive privilege , nor by Congressional House of Representatives privilege .
