Yesterday, Federal Reserve chair Jerome Powell testified before the Senate Banking Committee and said the Fed is likely to raise interest rates higher than previously expected.

This is a BIG mistake.

It completely puts the burden of inflation on lower-wage workers and the poor.

@rbreich Except this ISN'T INFLATION! It's price gouging. Inflation is caused by costs going up so prices go up. Costs have recently gone up due to fuel costs...but that should have easily been offset by the near free fuel for years before. Wages have stagnated...so that's not a burden. It's greed. Plain and simple!

@rbreich Why don’t these old fiscal dinosaurs understand the difference between price gouging and real inflation? Are they aware of the issues or are they just looking at numbers provided by the banking lobbyists?
This country cannot thrive in a fiscal dictatorship where only the upper classes see the fruits of their minimal efforts compared to others.

@rbreich my private student loan payments (which were completely ignored by Biden for relief bc they are major contributors of his that he has fucked us over totally to help them make more money) and the monthly payment just went from $360 up to $510 bc of Biden and his horrible appointment
