One of the most interesting realizations I’ve made recently is that my dog appreciates the view of the ocean from our balcony. After her breakfast and before talking a walk to do her business, she asks to go out on the balcony and just sits, staring at the view. Sometimes when she goes out, she’s super interested in sniffing the air or listening to the people in the pool below, but in the morning, she just looks. I suppose it’s the doggo equivalent of sitting out there with a cup of morning coffee.
@jerry smart dog. Does she ask for coffee? πŸ˜„
@fedops she may well be asking and I am just not smart enough to understand
@jerry
@fedops
Just a note, caffeine is poisonous to most pets. It has a similar impact (alertness, jitters, raised blood pressure) but they can't metabolize it out of their system so it's like an overdose.
@jerry πŸ’™

@jerry dogs know how important and wonderful water is... our doggo (lab) used to dive underwater to collect stones

I need to move near water...

@4_d_4_m it’s also interesting to note that Lacie, a golden retriever who is supposed to love the water, actually hates it. When we take her to the beach. She runs away from waves, and getting her into the water is like torture for her.
@jerry it's a nice view indeed, so I can totally understand her :D
@jerry it is perfect and wholesome
@jerry how awesome is that! My Belle used to do that too. She just sat there and took it all in.. Thanks for sharingβ˜ΊοΈπŸ™
@jerry awh, my dog does this too from our front porch, with not as nice a view. She watches the squirrels, the neighbors pass by, etc. she always seems really peaceful. Pic of us β€œporching”
@jerry in my next life I want to be your dog. Just reading what you wrote teleported me to some beach with a beer or coffee in my hand and just watching the waves.
@jerry yup sometimes you just gotta be in the moment....
@jerry she knows things of which she cannot speak but only introspect
@frwessling that is sad to think about
@jerry it doesn't have to be though
if you sit with her and feel that she is content, then you can share that contentedness without words; words are too limiting anyway and only spoil such a glorious experience
@frwessling true enough. If I go out with her in this particular moment, she comes back in. During the evening, go out together and she lays next to me listening to the kids playing in the pool below while I rub her belly. She gets annoyed if I stop. She is a good dog and has a very deep personality
@jerry that my dude is true Paradise drink those moments in like a cup of good tea
