@melaniesill Reporting on elections as horseraces instead of analyzing and contrasting policies was much easier and turned politics into entertainment. Sadly, Trump's continuous campaigning seems to have helped make that the default way to look at all american political reporting.
@jonathanpeterson @melaniesill This. They don’t know how to report on the issues—especially complex issues that require a degree of expertise to explain to a general audience—so they shoehorn everything into their templates for celebrities and horse races.
