Growing up, I had three sisters. One of them was a quiet child, often angry or sullen and sometimes cruel.

One day that person went away.

And then I had a brother.

He was cheerful and warm, finally comfortable in a body he'd wanted his entire life.

Conservatives want to eradicate my brother. I'm here to say that's not going to happen.

@Gustodon @cstross I don’t think most people in my workplace noticed that the bright, happy woman who started managing our IT walk-up Help Desk bore a striking resemblance to quiet man who used to huddle in the a back corner. If you have any empathy at all, seeing the before and after is amazing. I can’t figure out how to communicate this to people who are lacking in empathy.

@Wendybird13 @Gustodon @cstross I’ve been trying to figure this out as well. Even friends I’ve expected to be more empathetic and understanding have missed this point. Why is it just lost on people?
