They did this for Boba Fett, for a special accessory kit when Empire came out, and for Emperor Palpatine.

It was insidious.

Oh, and fun fact: the first release of Boba Fett and Palpatine never had backing cards like everybody else.

They came in plastic bags packed in a little cardboard box.
