I am once again asking for #trans #book recommendations

I asked a while ago on Twitter and got some solid recommendations, up until the hot steamy sex started. Folks, i don't wanna read that

I want books by trans people, about trans people, where the story is just some fun drama, action, adventure, sci-fi, or whatever. Their struggles with gender identity may or may not be a plot point, but i just want to see people like me in the types of stories i enjoy

We are not inherently sexual objects, we're people like any other and there's got to be books that reflect that

Prefer to buy .epub directly from author but I'll buy through Kindle if need be

@deadofwinter Give me one moment. I'm just going to grab the link, but I don't want to lose this post.

Edit: Here we go. Check out the books listed here 👇

@SleepyCatten *jumps straight to the fiction section because i only read for escapism purposes*
@deadofwinter April Daniels' Nemesis Series, about a trans teen superhero.
Also Faith Naff's Eternal Forest books. I've only read the first one though.
@deadofwinter Alex White, Salvagers series is great fun, the recent August Kitko stuff is also a lot of fun but there’s a bit more sex

@deadofwinter Would it be considered crass to recommend my own books? I have 3 short works available on Amazon that should fit your criteria.

https://www.amazon.com/Enamored-Transgender-Romance-Fiction-Two-Pack-ebook/dp/B08HVL4KJX?ref_=ast_author_mpb

https://www.amazon.com/Josies-Stories-Collection-Transgender-Fiction-ebook/dp/B00HL15RSQ?ref_=ast_author_dp

https://www.amazon.com/Dear-John-Melanie-Ezell-ebook/dp/B00K1JFV9U?ref_=ast_author_dp

In addition to these I have a book coming out through a small digital publisher called Dopplerpress, who do almost exclusively TG stories. A lot of their Kindle content is low or zero sex, and might fit your desires too?

I'd suggest Blue Moon by Donna Lamb. It's a favorite.

@GuerillaGrue no please do recommend your own books! Hearing about these straight from the author is the best!

@deadofwinter Awesome!

And if you want some free stuff to read, I'm gonna share a shameless plug: I'm a long time community member of a transfic focused site called Big Closet (and sort of work for the site now too.)

https://bigclosetr.us/topshelf/

There are a lot of talented authors there. Yes, there's some... *hinky* stuff, but there are plenty of us who would be willing to help you find stuff that would fit your tastes :)

(My screenie there is "rasufelle.")

@deadofwinter I recommend Stake Sauce by Roanna Sylver. Buy it or any Kraken Collective books with a trans tag here: https://www.krakencollectivebooks.com/genre/transgender/
Romance - The Kraken Collective

The Kraken Collective

@deadofwinter romance is the largest book genre in the world and many readers do appreciate seeing themselves represented in a normalizing fashion wrt romantic relationships. As in, yes we also find love and have meet-cutes and be flirty, but romance does often include sex and can sometimes veer into fetishization of marginalized identities, so I get you.

anyway I recommend this action/super hero book my partner really enjoyed:

The Dreadnought by April Daniels

@shippychaos i understand how romance novels work and I'm not judging I'm just saying what i personally don't want to read
@shippychaos @deadofwinter Definitely agree on Dreadnought, as well as its sequel Sovereign. Both are very good.

I'd also recommend following
@[email protected]. It's run by a service that will boost any post it's tagged in to all of it's followers. It's super helpful for connecting smaller communities that might not be able to rely of hashtags to reach everyone.
@deadofwinter I have mostly only read YA books with trans characters, but here's the list:
- Not Your Sidekick series by C.B. Lee
- Dreadnought by April Daniels
- Victories Greater Than Death by Charlie Jane Anders
@deadofwinter
The best one I have read is light from uncommon stars. By Ryka Aoki. It has everything! A fantastic happy YA trans story yes, but also donuts, international violin competitions, space travel, aliens, suburban American Asian culture, and more. Did I mention donut shops.
@deadofwinter The Charlie Jane Anders scifi series that starts with “Victories Greater Than Death”.
@deadofwinter

• “meanwhile, elsewhere” is a wonderful collection of sf short stories by trans authors, if you can find a copy…
• if ya fiction with a trans femme teenaged superhero figuring out all that shit at once is up your alley, there’s the on-going nemesis trilogy (two volumes currently out: “dreadnought” and “sovereign”) by @MzAprilDaniels
