Star Wars.
In Picard when he said, "This is not Star Fleet" I realized he was right. Last Star Trek I watched, ever.
The hopeful luxury space communism of TOS has been replaced by a grim deconstruction of everything which made Star Trek a hopeful and positive vision of the future.
Ofc, Andor was great, and it is a really grim commentary on fascism and revolution. In some ways it can be considered a deconstruction of the original trilogy. So I guess quality matters too.
As an olive branch across the aisle, I'd encourage #StarWars fans with kids to check out #StarTrekProdigy. The first arc of season 1 is very Star Wars influenced. As a Trekkie, I tend to prefer the rest of the season but father-daughter "join me and together we can destroy the Federation it is your destiny" resolving with magical sword fighting in space feels kinda Star Wars-y to me.
