New #FuelPoverty statistics out for #England today. Most disturbing change: numbers of households required to spend 10%+ of income on energy (after housing) This has grown from *20.5%* (4.93 mill hshlds) in 2021 to *30.3%* in 2022 (7.39 mill hshlds).
This '10% measure' was for years the official one for England. It is the most sensitive to energy prices; but also reflects our experience in talking to people on the ground. Important to recognise this as a radical shift. *almost 1/3 households are fuel poor under this measure*
Good to see this being monitored by @energygovuk much better than #LiLEE to show effects of #EnergyCrisis We also recognise the increase in #FuelPovertyGap (modelled gap between what people can afford and what energy costs): up 33% from £254 (2021) to £338 (2022).
