I agree that King Charles was doing the right thing. It is his job.
I'm not so sure that the title of the Protocol replacement, the *Windsor* Framework, is the smartest choice. Isn't it chosen as a political message to Royalist Unionists?
As for the Framework, that seems to be a nod and a wink to strict control of the Single Market and remains an unfair economic advantage to NI over the rest of UK.
This is a fiddling with Brexit exercise when drastic changes are needed.
@rozenberg Then again, William IV's intervention could be seen as having helped things along, whatever the true motivation for it that historians may eventually agree upon.
@rozenberg It’s also true that the Presidents of the Commission and of the Council are considered Heads of State for protocol purposes, and it’s not at all unusual for visiting heads of state to pay a courtesy call.
