@dave From what I understand, there's no character limit on blog posts. The limit is only on how much of the post is shown on the timeline. A "More" link is exactly what is shown on the timeline when the post is longer than the said count of characters.
Sounds like a good trade-off to keep the timeline parseable and still support long blog posts.
@dave It's not just characters in prose. Look at the rise of TikTok, Insta Reels, YouTube Shorts, et al. Social Media is bending towards the short-attention-span-instant-gratification-dopamine-drip model. Market forces are driving this phenomenon. Combine that with *boosts, favorites*, and *likes* social algorithms to promote this kind of content.
How do we reverse it and encourage long-form dissertation? How about algorithms that bias towards verbose responses?
