I’m feeling a bit salty, so apologies in advance for the salinity of my piece today, but the circumstances really call for it on this Monday morning. Over the weekend, Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, recently reelected to her position after a challenge from the far right, made a remarkable statement. She indicated

@jaykuo Trump is never going to agree to the GOP's terms. And if he does, he's not going to hold up his end of the agreement if he doesn't secure the nomination. This is all just prayers and desperation on Ronna's part.

1. Drumpf will run for president,
2. GOP Almighty will hire someone to assassinate him,
3. immediately frame some bystander possessing so-called Democratic credentials, straight outa "Bob Roberts," and
4. establish nationwide martial law with minimal resistance from their faux-position party.

@jaykuo This pledge would have required all candidates to back Trump in 2018. Most did, but blindly asking people to support candidates they are opposed to will ensure that only the worst will want to run in the first place. This will make it even harder for politicians to take a principled stance.
