In a 2014 analysis of bicyclists deaths in the USA, a League of American Bicyclist report entitled Every Bicyclist Counts (https://bikeleague.org/sites/default/files/EBC_report_final.pdf) found the following auto/truck driver factors were significant in the deaths of bicyclists;
» “42% of those drivers were reported to be operating their vehicle in a careless or inattentive manner,
» “12% of those drivers were reported to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.”
Alcohol is the automobile industry's most powerful deflection.
So is the idea of "user liability."
Cars are designed as weapons.
