2/ If a company/industry cannot and acts in ways that put the public and environment at risk then regulation is required to ensure it does. If that company lobbies to remove such regulations then either they show the required level of responsibility or those regulation gets re-enforced. Clearly with the numbers of derailments the railway companies have to be baby sat and they need enforced regulation to correct their irresponsible behavior.
@Alans5502 @michaelgemar I’m not sure I understand your overall point -- of course the ultimate responsibility lies with the company, but removing regulations allows them to act in this irresponsible manner (and sends a broader message that companies should have freer rein). Let’s hold both the company *and* those who cut regulations accountable.
