@simonvarwell a schism doesn't increase the number of churches, it increases the number of different gods. After all, if the adherents of each church are acting in the way their god has revealed to them, those gods can't want or be the same things.
There's a possible explanation for this, and it doesn't involve invoking the divine.

@simonvarwell @patmackie I thought the view I'd expressed there was sufficiently preposterous as to be obviously just my characterisation of splintering religious schisms.
(But I accept the world is big and full of bigots and a random lampoon can look like the real thing.)
