Oh my.

"'We definitely started with the first phone call, the call to Secretary Raffensperger that was so publicized,' said [the Fulton Countty Grand Jury foreperson]... Asked whether the jurors had recommended indicting Mr. Trump, Ms. Kohrs gave a cryptic answer: 'You’re not going to be shocked. It’s not rocket science,' adding 'you won’t be too surprised.'”

Jury in Georgia Trump Inquiry Recommended Multiple Indictments, Forewoman Says

She would not discuss specific indictments in the special grand jury’s report but noted that its recommendations were “not going to be some giant plot twist.”

The New York Times

"A special grand jury that investigated election interference by former President Donald J. Trump and his allies in Georgia recommended indictments of multiple people on a range of charges in its report, most of which remains sealed, the forewoman of the jury said in an interview today.

“'It is not a short list,' the forewoman, Emily Kohrs, said."

@edbott I’m not popping the champagne until #Trump is indicted. I don’t believe Fani Willis will indict, I don’t believe Letitia James will indict, I don’t believe Alvin Bragg will indict, and I’m positive that member in good standing of the Federalist Society Merrick Garland will *never* indict Donald Trump. So, no champagne for me. 😢

However, I am positive that Donald Trump will be the 2024 Republican Party nominee and will have a 50/50 chance of being sworn in as #POTUS in January, 2025.

@freakwater

Sorry, you're not going to drag me into your paranoia.

There are three Federalist Societies, as Sen. Whitehouse has patiently explained.

@edbott Hey, sometimes even paranoids have real enemies.

Too many pundits are flatly declaring that Trump won’t be the GOP nominee. I hope the DNC isn’t simply wishing him away; I’m sure Joe Biden isn’t.

@freakwater

I'm not sure how you got from my post of a news article from the NY Times about the grand jury in my hometown of Atlanta to this topic, but I am really not interested in going there, tyvm.

@freakwater @edbott
You're right that it won't be Merrick Garland. But that is because it's not AGs but US Attorneys that do issue indictments. In this case, though, it's been turned over to a special counsel, Jack Smith. He would be the one to issue any indictments at the Federal level.

@edbott

If someone had told me on January 7th that two years later none of the masterminds behind the coup would even be charged, I probably would have believed them.

@edbott
"“It is not a short list,”"

The phrase "decapitation of the GOP" came up some time ago.

But I understand this jury would only have been looking at possible local crimes.

@edbott That doesn't narrow it down. We know that Trump asked for election result numbers to be changed to a figure he himself in admitted in the call wasn't the correct number - just the number he needed. That's a crime, so an indictment shouldn't be a surprise. But the US legal system seems to have an exception for orange people, so a non-indictment also wouldn't be a surprise.
@TonChryso @edbott Correct. “Not going to be shocked” = Trump not recommended for indictment. To me, at least.
@edbott Thank you for the free link!
@edbott what does she mean by the "first phone call"? Were there more than one by Trump?
@edbott Call me when there’s an indictment. Until then, IDGAF.
@edbott Things are beginning to realign, the GOP fiction will be forced to accept the facts until the difference will be closing in to 0 compared to reality. Good. It has been expected.
