And this is what Republicans would absolutely do on a federal level if given the opportunity. I'm scared, and I know all of this is only made worse by the unending media debate over the legitimacy and authenticity of trans people. It's been getting worse and worse, and there's been such little push-back.
We need federal-level protections now. Because one this kind of stuff happens, it doesn't slow down. The anxiety of just... existing right now is a lot.
Because, again, this doesn't just stop with "Look, we're only banning it until 19, only banning it to 21, only banning it until 26" stuff.
They want to ban the ability for trans people to transition *at any age.*
rus@parkermolloy the religious extreme has already pushed abortion rights to "not after 6 weeks" in some places, and they're transitioning to their next big fight. "Not before 18 years" sounds a lot like "not after 16 weeks", and their push is *always* in the direction of *never*.
