priorities
@ancient_catbus Literally my photo where Julius Caesar was assassinated.

@paulatkinsonpdx @ancient_catbus I am desperately searching my phone for my photos of that precise place because I took tons of cat photos there but I think they're on an old SD card :(

Apparently it's a cat sanctuary now because cats just decided they wanted to live there

@stavvers @ancient_catbus That matches my memory; the feral cat colony there is an institution.
@paulatkinsonpdx @ancient_catbus there were probably similar numbers of cats around in those historical times when the buildings were active, they were encouraged to keep mouse-like rodents away from food stores, offices etc..
@ancient_catbus too be fair, cats have been protecting places of historical significance for thousands of years. They're doing their job, why not give them some publicity?!
@ancient_catbus The number of pictures I have of the cats at Pompeii....

@ancient_catbus

damn right, proper priorities!

@ancient_catbus I often think how, despite the cataclysms that disrupted the human history in these places, there's likely continuous cat history back to all the momentous events that happened there. The stray we see lounging there on holiday could be a direct descendent of one that curled around Marcus Aurelius's ankles.
