Also, the road to rejoin is long and it may not happen in our lifetimes, but the road to improved UK-EU relations is shorter; much shorter.

As soon as the Tories lose their grip on the UK - and they are more than slipping now - it is obvious that a closer cooperation is available.

Not enough, no, not by far, but much much better.

@SuneAuken Thanks for the dose of good cheer, though in other respects all looks a bit grey just now! For us on the left, the world is lurching horribly towards dictators, so many people seduced by the fake glamour of the right. They can have no idea of what living under a brutal regime would be like, even with our own poor governance we are so much better off. Listening to the eastern European countries this morning, what they rightly fear...

Truth to tell, I think the world has been lurching a bit back these last years. In 2020 I was terribly scared. In 2023 I'm slightly hopeful.

But you are absolutely right. Living under a brutal regime is something most people can't fathom, and so wannabe dictatiors get far to easy rides in the public.

Thank You Dr Auken. It is a long road back for the U.K. to rejoin the E.U. Here in the U.K. we can't wait to get started back down that road, and that will happen the second we get the Tory government out of power. Don't believe in the doom mongery, a brighter future is just waiting for us to begin.
