This is a good read on how #seo is likley to change for those of us who are in this space. I believe Dave Davies has it about right thought the devil will be in the details of course!

Google Bard, Microsoft ChatGPT, and the Future of Search

OPINION: With the launch of Google Bard and the integration of ChatGPT into search, what does the future look like for SEOs?. Made by Dave Davies using W&B

@simoncox My only solace here is that the AI isn't going to provide the end product or service a user is looking for. It can provide the information, but if the end desired result is choosing a product, seller or service, then SOMEHOW there must be a way for the system to determine which entity is best suited to provide said product or service.

Spread your seed far and wide. The more nodes connect to yours the better. In essence, the "blind surfer" model still holds up.

@esizemore As an industry we morph more than most anyway so it is really a case of who can keep up! Nothing new there then!
@simoncox thank you, Simon. Reading it now. On the side note, I'm keeping track of user behavior regarding clients, family, and friends, and their search habits. Much of Google's market share is based on the muscle memory, if you will, of what people are used to using. For the most part, people are used to using Google search. Let's hope that they continue to.

@markbarrus Search habits is a difficult one as we tend to be super users, know all the tricks (well using the operators) and know how to phrase searches to get useful results and often forget this. I used to use my wife's search behaviour as the benchmark but she has picked up so much from me she is now a power user without realising it!

Bing will be picking up market share but it will be a small % and the current economic crises will have a bigger effect on Google's usage, and income.
