Nazis are literally banned in Germany so I'd been wondering how Twitter 2.0's strategy of unbanning the Nazis as a growth hack would play there.

It turns out it doesn't and the company just got hit with its first lawsuit for not enforcing German laws.

@carnage4life Yeah, this is going to be fun. Especially if the rest of the EU joins in...

@carnage4life But he was quick as a bunny to block that Modi documentary.

It seems it mightn't be just gross incompetence and negligence.

@coyotesqrl @carnage4life exactly. The so-called smartest guy in the world can't be that naive
@carnage4life and heres to hoping it gets hit with many more

@carnage4life On the US side, lack of privacy snd consent by these corporations is normalized and "accept it, its just how it is". Of course individials who havent normalized these things usually dont have the resources/cash to fight it.

Im finding more and more that when big tech companies do things that affect consumer privacy or safety (like in this case)... European entities (that can afford legal) and GDPR are the only ways to get these things addressed.

@carnage4life Good. I hope they take that man to the cleaners.
@carnage4life Three cheers for the current government of Germany/Deutschland over this!
@carnage4life It's all going to burn to the ground around him. I feel bad for the employees, but he deserves every bit of it.

@carnage4life

Maybe someone fired, or didn’t talk to, all his legal staff at <place>

Whoopsie. Too bad.

@carnage4life If only they had a team of people who were responsible for safety and trust on the platform. They could call it ā€œSafety & Trustā€ or something.

Wait. *holds finger to ear* Oooooohhhhhhhhh…

@carnage4life Not sure what is up with Elon's seemingly destructive behavior, but feels like he is really disenfranchising a fair bit of what was a loyal base.

@carnage4life It shows that the approach "Anything legal is OK" maybe isn't that easy to uphold.

Different countries, different legislation. So a more narrow moderation is needed.

@carnage4life we are not fancying around in Germany with Nazi issues. They will be held accountable and probably pay a fine
