Is sim swapping particularly easy in the USA? A lot of commentary (American) speaks about it as an almost trivial means of attack.

While it happens in EMEA, it doesn't seem to be as common.

If it is a problem that is more prevalent in the USA, is that due (perhaps) to the rather weaker data protection consequences for a telco arising from allowing a sim swap to take place?

@iainnash the closest issue I've had in the UK is my phone provider setup a call divert at the request of someone malicious... Naturally wanted to take absolutely no responsibility or action on it
